Now in its eighth year, the 3k junior race starts at 9.15am and the 10k starts at 10am - both from the Event Village on Midsummer Common.

The warm-up will be provided by F45 Cambridge.

This year, both the new sponsors, Newton, and organisers, Muscular Dystrophy UK, say they are seeking to respect the environment.

Muscular Dystrophy UK race director, Jessie Keighley, said: “We’re working with local authorities to make sure water taps are available throughout the event and that we have necessary recycling plans in place for the tidy up.”

The event sold out last year, with 2,461 runners registered.

This year, the city’s streets will again be closed for the run, which goes through the heart of Cambridge.

Cambridge City Council has warned that queues are expected at Park Street car park in the morning, while the race takes place nearby.

Vehicles leaving the car park will be directed via Thompson Lane.

Other car parks will all be open as usual and should be unaffected by the race.
