The Scottish knitwear brand Kiltane has now set out plans to open a new store in the premises offering a “unique shopping experience”.

An application has been submitted to Cambridge City Council asking for permission to undertake works to refurbish the store.

These plans include details for new signs, as well as proposals to restore the storefront and for the reconditioning of the internal ceilings.

The plans said “heritage materials” such as brass and “heritage tones of paint and finishes” will be used.

In the planning documents it said the intention of the works proposed is to “restore, retain and celebrate the original shop details”.

The application said: “Kiltane is a Scottish brand and purveyor of fine woollen knitwear and accessories with classical designs, weaves and patterns.

“The brand is becoming more established as it begins to offer a more curated collection, always with a view on quality and sustainability.

“The intention is to train local shop staff to help create a unique shopping experience for both the local people and visitors to this historic part of Cambridge city centre.”
