Police deal with slippery intruder – as cat brings a snake into elderly woman’s Impington home

An 84-year-old woman was shocked to discover a little ‘present’ her cat had brought into her living room - a slippery little snake.

The woman, who has limited mobility, called on Cambridgeshire police - and officers promptly visited her Impington home to deal with the unwanted intruder.

It’s not known what type of snake it was - although it was described as “yellow and black” on police logs.

Of the three native species - grass snakes, adders and the much rarer smooth snakes - only adders are venomous. Grass snakes are the most likely to be found in gardens.

Noting the “Ssssuccess!” on Twitter, Cambridgeshire police pointed out that careers in policing aren’t just about making arrests and urged people to find out more about the job at https://orlo.uk/Policing-Careers_mv0Gu.
