Police investigate cause of two fires in Cambridge




Police are investigating the causes of two fires in Cambridge.

A blaze in the stairwell of a block of flats in Cockerell Road in Arbury was started deliberately, according to the fire service.

Emergency services were called to the fire at around 10.45pm on Saturday, June 4.

Crews from Cambridge and Cambourne attended, and used a hose reel to put the fire out by 12.15am.

A police spokesperson said the investigation remains open.

The cause of a fire in the cardboard storage area of a building in Newmarket Road is also being investigated.

Crews from Cambridge were called to the blaze at 10.09pm on Sunday, June 5.

The blaze was out and crews returned to their station by 12.20am.
