Police officer assaulted by man with knife in Cambridge
A police officer has been taken to hospital after being assaulted by a man with a knife in Cambridge today (Wednesday).
Officers were carrying out proactive patrols in Eagle Street at around 3pm, when they stopped two men following concerns around drug dealing.
One of the men assaulted an officer with a knife, causing a minor injury.
The officer was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, but his injury is not thought to be serious or life-threatening.
One man was arrested and was taken into custody. A cordon was put in place at the scene and the road was closed, with the investigation ongoing.
