Record number take part in Cambridge Festival 2025 activities
A record-breaking number of people enjoyed hundreds of free events at this year’s Cambridge Festival.
Held between 19 March and 4 April, and led by the University of Cambridge, it covered all aspects of world-leading research in Cambridge through in-person, online and on-demand events.
A conservative estimate suggests 45,000 people enjoyed the events, including more than 10,000 visitors to the family weekend alone, held in central Cambridge.
More than 1,000 people learned basic CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) during the family weekend (29-30 March) thanks to the East Anglian Air Ambulance, a festival partner.
Among the organisations taking part in the family weekend was AstraZeneca.
“As part of our UK STEM outreach and public engagement programme, we hosted a series of hands-on ‘Medicine Maker’ STEM activities for young people designed to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators,” said a spokesperson.
“This year our theme was ‘Decoding Disease’ which focused on genomics, an area of science that is rapidly transforming medicine and healthcare and that AstraZeneca is committed to advancing. Through genomics, scientists can study the genes within our DNA and the role they play in health and disease.”
AstraZeneca also took part in festival activities on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, offering public tours of The Discovery Centre (DISC) and sharing early careers programmes at the Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology on 22 March.
