Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon 2018: 82 pictures from this year's run plus results of first 50 runners
Thousands braved the cold to complete the 13.1-mile race
More than 7,000 runners were undeterred by the cold conditions and completed the 2018 Cambridge Half Marathon.
Following the snow of recent days, organisers had worked hard to ensure the route was as safe for participants as possible, and were aided by a welcome rise in temperature overnight.
The official winner of the race was William Mycroft, of Enfield and Haringey running club, who finished in 1:07:03.
It was originally listed as Andrew Rawlings, who completed the 13.1-mile single lap course in an impressive 1:06:52, but it emerged that his place had been taken by another runner, which breached race rules, so he was disqualified from the race results.
James Straw came second, in 1:07: 42, with Aaron Scott in third in 1:09:40.
There was a real battle for the next three places, with Cambridge and Coleridge’s Chris Darling coming fourth in 1:09:55, and Ely Runners’ Alan Darby two seconds behind him in 1:09:57 and Thomas Stevens, also of Cambridge and Coleridge, coming home sixth in 1:09:58.
The first woman home was Georgina Schwiening, also of Cambridge and Coleridge, who came 29th with 1:15:32.
Runners raised money for Cancer Research UK and other good causes.
Runner Rich Marsham said afterwards: “Job done! It was hard work but the support around the course was fantastic. The beer - alcohol free - tasted good and we have raised a decent amount for a great cause.”
