Sawston Fun Run and Walk returns
The Sawston Fun Run and Walk is to make a welcome return on Sunday, May 8.
After an absence of two years, the event, which has proved very popular over the last 36 years, has already raised over half a million pounds, and Cambridge Sawston Rotary is hoping to raise further significant funds for the local community.
Registration details are on the website with fees before the May 8 being £12 for adults and £6 for children in school years one to 11. All proceeds will go to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice [Each] and Rowan, a local charity that supports adults with learning disabilities.
Others groups set to benefit are Friends of Bellbird Primary School, Jigsaw Preschool, Shelford & Stapleford Youth Initiative, Boys Brigade, Pippins Pre-school, Caring Together, Sawston Scouts, William Westley School PTA, Sawston Toy Library, A M Challis Trust, Sawston Girls Football Club, Sawston & Babraham Cricket Club, and Sawston Nursery.
The routes will be the traditional 7.4k route around Sawston that appeals to all sections of the running community and the shorter 3.8k route that appeals to families and young children, many of whom take part in fancy dress. There will also be attractions at the venue, Sawston Village College.
The event has two new major sponsors – Boswells and Mica Hardware – and is being promoted by Star Radio and CityView on its Stagecoach panels. Other sponsors are Adams Harrison, Auto Now, Adcock Refrigeration, Gibbs Denley, the Hill Group, McDonalds, Morgan Sindall, Red Graphic and Sawston Parish Council.
All participants must register in advance online at sawstonfunrun.co.uk
