Stolen dachshund puppy Peggy found in road 10 miles away from home in South Cambridgeshire village
A puppy called Peggy stolen in a burglary in Toft was found days later in a road about 10 miles away.
Detectives appealed for information after the three-month-old Dachshund was taken from Hardwick Road between 4pm and 5pm on Tuesday, 18 March.
The burglars wore balaclavas as they broke through the rear patio doors and took Peggy from her crate.
A public appeal was launched, shared by the Cambridge Independent, and the hashtag #HelpFindPeggy was used on social media to spread the word.
The following day, members of the public at The Eight Bells pub in Abbotsley recognised Peggy outside in the road and called police. The puppy has now been reunited with her owners.
No arrests have been made.
Det Sgt Jon Lockwood, who is investigating, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the moments leading up to and after the burglary.”
