Taylor Wimpey seeks approval ‘without delay’ for 121 homes at West Cambourne

A developer has put forward plans for 121 new homes as part of the West Cambourne development - and it wants the plans to be approved “without delay”.

Taylor Wimpey wants to build both market and affordable homes in an area known as Swansley Park.

The application provides details for the neighbourhood, following outline planning permission for up to 2,350 homes in West Cambourne, approved in 2017.

Of the total 121 homes, the developer plans to build:

85 private homes, including nine two-bedroom homes, 38 three-bedroom homes, 30 four-bedroom homes, and eight five-bedroom homes;

19 affordable rent homes, including two one-bedroom homes, 11 with two bedrooms and six with three bedrooms; and

17 homes it has classed as ‘intermediate affordable housing’, including two one-bedroom homes, 10 two-bedroom homes and five three-bedroom homes.

The developer said the overarching vision for West Camourne is to “create a thriving, vibrant, sustainable urban extension with a strong sense of community and identity where people enjoy living”.

It added: “The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) places great emphasis on the importance of both approving development that is sustainable without delay and maintaining an adequate supply of housing land.”
