The project’s main focus is to provide care packs for cancer patients at the oncology department, but last month, 50 care packs were donated to boys and girls at the teenage emergency department.

Melanie Hersey, who runs the project, said: “The packs contained overnight essentials, snacks, distractions – just things to tide them over.”

Launched in 2015, A Touch of Sparkle receives grants from the Greggs Foundation, 1StopCommunity’s Carriers for Causes, CALA Homes, and the Pink Ribbon Foundation as well as collaborating with charities Something to Look Forward to and Blankets Sent With Love.
