More than 100 people have received one-off payments in Cambridge under the government’s Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Fuels Payment.

It applies to households which were unable to access previous government-funded support which was paid direct to households by their energy supplier.

City and district councils are processing the applications, with £400 going to those who do not have a direct relationship with an energy supplier, such as those living in park homes, on a boat, Traveller site or care home, or £200 for those who rely on solid fuels to heat their homes, including heating oil, LPG and biomass. If a household meets the qualifying criteria for both schemes, both grants can be awarded but a separate application must be submitted for each scheme via the gov.uk website or government call centre.

Visit bit.ly/43hmCB3 if you do not have a relationship with your energy supplier or bit.ly/3KuJrbS if you use solid fuel to apply before May 31, or call 0808 175 3287.
