Van driver charged with causing death of Nigel Goodwin by careless driving after A10 crash




A man has been charged with causing the death by careless driving of Nigel Goodwin.

A collision involving two HGVs and a Volkswagon van occurred at about 10.30am on May 14 on the A10 at Waterbeach.

Mr Goodwin, 52, a husband and father from Huntingdon Road in Lolworth, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, but died six days later as a result of his injuries.

The van driver, Tiago Fernandes De Castro Silva, 35, of Mount Pleasant Road, London, has been charged with causing death by careless driving, causing death while driving uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, possession of a false identity document with intent, fraud by false representation and perverting the course of justice.

He appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (July 18) and was remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on August 14.
