As he drove towards Green Side, officers pulled him over as they suspected he had been drinking.

Cradock, who claimed to have had “a couple of pints”, failed the roadside breathalyser.

He gave an evidential reading of 86 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in custody. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Cradock, of Waterbeach Court, Waterbeach, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on 12 April. He was banned from driving and ordered to pay a fine of £346.

PC Christopher Smits, who investigated said: “Cradock started driving knowing he had been drinking that evening and putting himself and other road users at risk.

“He will now spend a significant amount of time off the roads.”

Cambridgeshire Constabulary operates a dedicated, confidential 24/7 hotline – 0800 032 0845 – for reporting anyone believed to be driving under the influence.
