Woman rescued from River Cam near Chesterton Road has died

A woman rescued from the River Cam near Chesterton Road today (Wednesday, April 24) has died.
Police and paramedics were called to Chesterton Road around 8.30am this morning.
The woman was rescued from the water and taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in a serious condition but later died.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “We were called at about 8.30am today (24 April) to reports of concern for a woman in the river near Chesterton Road in Cambridge.
“Officers and paramedics attended the scene and the road was closed.
“The woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition and later died. An investigation into what happened is ongoing.”
