Work has restarted on a project which will add a new bus lane to Histon Road.

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) scheme, which also includes upgrades for walkers and cyclists, resumed on Monday (May 11).

A spokesperson for the GCP said its contractors will pick up work on Phase A at the junction of Histon Road/Victoria Road/Huntingdon Road, where a new road layout and enhanced walking and cycleways are planned.

This is expected to finish in August.

Workers will then move on to Phases B and D, which will require the temporary closure of Histon Road to all inbound traffic for up to a year.

The spokesperson added that a diversion via the A14, Milton Road and Victoria Road will be in place throughout the construction phase.

Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to use Histon Road in both directions.
