Minor illness or injury
There are a number of minor injury units and urgent treatment centres across the county that can treat a range of minor illnesses and injuries such as sprains and strains, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, minor head and eye injuries, bites and stings.
No appointment required.

Doctors’ surgeries
GP practices will be open on Christmas Eve, December 27 and New Year’s Eve. From January 2, 2020, practices will be open as usual. Pre-bookable evening and weekend GP appointments are also available for residents across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
NHS 111

The first response service (FRS) in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough provides those in mental health crisis the opportunity to get access to help quickly, by calling NHS 111 and selecting option 2.

Bin collections
South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge residents are being asked to double-check their bin collection dates during the festive period.
Collections continue as normal up to and including Christmas eve and collections from Christmas Day to Friday, January 10 will all be at least one day later than usual.

Bin collections across Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire are carried out by the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service, a partnership between Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District Councils.
Tree recycling
Anyone who wishes to have their tree taken away for composting should register online at arhc.org.uk/treerecycling where there is the opportunity to give a donation. Registrations close on January 8, 2020 at 1pm. The charity’s helpers then collect the registered trees on January 9, 10 and 11 and take them to the city council’s waste management depot. Collections will take place in these postcodes: CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CB22, CB23 and CB24.
