Ben Worman wonder goal sets Cambridge United on way to victory at Morecambe in Sky Bet League One

Ben Worman scored a wonder goal as Cambridge United earned a 2-0 win at Morecambe in Sky Bet League One.

It was a much-changed side for the U's from their 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon last Saturday, with six changes to the team.

But it did not stop them picking up back-to-back league wins for the first time this campaign.

The deadlock was broken in the 28th minute by Worman's stunning volley.

A pass was zipped in by Jensen Weir to the young midfielder at the edge of the box. With a good piece of improvisation, he took a touch to take it up into the air, and then smashed a volley into the top corner of the net.

United had a chance to double their lead in the 36th minute, but Joe Ironside was denied by a good save from Morecambe keeper Jokull Andresson.

It remained 1-0 at the break, but United never looked in danger, and kept the league's top scorer, Cole Stockton, quiet all game.

Harvey Knibbs had a chance for the U's midway through the half, but his attempt from James Brophy's cut back was turned onto the post by Andresson.

The second goal came in the 70th minute.

Shilow Tracey, who was a substitute for Knibbs, was fouled in the area, and Ironside tucked away the penalty to make it 2-0.

They saw out the rest of the game with relative ease, denying Morecambe any chances of note, and the win lifts United up to 10th in the table.

Mark Bonner's side are next in action in the FA Cup, first round away to Northampton Town this Saturday (November 6).
