Caius take over the headship of men's Division One in Cambridge University May Bumps
Caius head into the final day of the May Bumps in pole position in the men's Division One.
They have made swift progress at the top of the division this year, starting in fourth place and with bumps on each of the first two nights then had Lady Margaret in their sights on the third evening.
Caius duly obliged in catching the leaders to take the headship, making them the crew to beat this afternoon (Saturday).
Magdalene rowed over in third, but Downing are up to fourth having caught Pembroke.
Emmanuel are up to sixth after bumping Clare, who are down to seventh having started this year in second.
Elsewhere in the division, there were bumps for Robinson (to 11th) and Lady Margaret II, who are chasing their blades after going up to 14th.
In the women's Division One, Newnham rowed over at headship having taken the position from Jesus on the second night.
Emmanuel rowed over for the third night running and it was the same story for Caius in fourth.
Lady Margaret are up to fifth after catching Downing.
Pembroke are on course for blades after their third bump in a row took them to eighth.
There were also bumps for First And Third (to 10th) and Queens' (to 15th).
There was plenty of drama in the women's Division Two.
Only a little over a canvas away from bumping Sidney Sussex, Downing II's No 7 caught a crab causing their boat to come to a halt in front of the Plough pub crowd.
Sidney escaped to race at their position on Saturday, meanwhile Selwyn W1 who were a long way behind Downing, were at full speed and bearing down on them. Selwyn were denied their bump for inconsiderate boatmanship (not slowing down) but allowed to keep their position in the division.
Meanwhile a patron of the Plough pub slipped into the Cam, only to be saved from going under by quick-thinking fellow spectators.
Blades are the target in the men's divisions for Trinity Hall, Hughes Hall, Caius II, Pembroke II, Emmanuel II, Jesus III, Emmanuel III, Clare Hall, Pembroke III, Sidney Sussex III, Trinity Hall III, Churchill III, Downing III, Fitzwilliam III, Selwyn III and Caius IV.
And achieving blades is the main objective in the women's divisions for Newnham II, Homerton II, Queens' III and Caius IV.
