Headship honours for Caius Boat Club and Newnham College Boat Club in the Cambridge University May Bumps

Caius and Newnham have earned the respective headships of the May Bumps after the final day of racing on the River Cam.

For Newnham, it is their first headship of the women's Division One since 2003, while Caius are back at the head of the men's Division One having lost their status to Lady Margaret in 2016.

The result was also a mirror of this year's Lent Bumps, where both colleges gained the respective headships.

Elsewhere in the women's top division it was a case of as you were, with the top six crews all rowing over on the final day.

It was a different story in the men's first division, as Magdalene caught Lady Margaret in the final 250m to go up to second, while Emmanuel went above Pembroke to go into fifth. It also turned into a May Bumps to forget for Clare who, having started the week in second, were bumped by Peterhouse to finish in eighth.

Blades, for four successive days of bumps, were earned by Lady Margaret II, and the same is true of Trinity Hall, who have risen from fourth in Division Two to 16th in men's Division One.

Pembroke won their blades in the women's Division One, finishing the week in seventh, and there were also final day bumps for First And Third, Fitzwilliam and Queens'.

Homerton II earned their blades in the women's Division Three.

There were a number of crews earning blades throughout the men's divisions, including Emmanuel II, Caius II and Hughes Hall in Division Two.

The feat was achieved by Emmanuel III in Division Three and by Clare Hall, who went from third in Division Four to 13th in Division Three, and Pembroke III, who went from seventh in Division Four to 17th in Division Three.

The list was completed by Downing III and Churchill III in Division Four; Fitzwilliam III in Division Five and Caius IV in Division Six.
