Cambridge United duo Mark Bonner and Paul Mullin have been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two monthly awards.

U's head coach Bonner is in the running for September's manager of the month award along with Port Vale’s John Askey, Newport County’s Mike Flynn and Harrogate Town’s Simon Weaver.

Bonner ledUnited to an unbeaten September, with two wins and a draw, scoring eight goals and conceding none.

Askey also guided Port Vale to seven points from nine without conceding a goal, and it was the same points haul for Flynn at Newport.

Weaver oversaw newly-promoted Harrogate to draws against Walsall and Port Vale after an opening day 4-0 win over Southend.

In the player-of-the-month category, United’s Mullin is up against Salford City’s Ian Henderson, Harrogate’s Aaron Martin and Morecambe midfielder Adam Phillips.

Mullin scored three goals and got an assist in United’s start, and also hit a curler that hit the post and went in off the keeper’s back against Morecambe.

Henderson scored a hat-trick against Grimsby on his way to four goals in three games, Martin has made the step up from Guiseley by scoring two goals and getting three assists for Harrogate, and former U Phillips has shown his vision and eye for a pass with an assist against Southend and a penalty against Cheltenham.
