Cambridge United face away day in Carabao Cup

U's to head west in league cup

Cambridge United have been handed an away trip in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Shaun Derry’s side will travel to League One side Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup, which was most recently known as the Capital One Cup.

The match will take place at the Memorial Ground in the week commencing August 7.

It has been a busy spell for the U’s off the pitch in the last week.

They have announced that Henry Comfort has become chief operating officer, having initially joined the club as business operations manager last September.

And BBC Radio Cambridgeshire sports editor Nick Fairbairn has been appointed head of partnerships and Joanna Kafouris is the new head of commercial development.

Chief executive Jez George said: “With Joanna and Nick joining Henry Comfort, and our other existing staff, we have a team leading our business operations that can really push the boundaries and achieve even greater results.”

United have also agreed a deal for Ethos to become the club’s official website and match ball partners for the 2017/18 season.

As part of the match-ball sponsorship, Ethos will be selecting a community hero of the day for each match next season, who will be invited to the game courtesy of Ethos and have a number of exclusive match-day experiences.
