Cambridge United on the move after Crewe Alexandra win
U's rise into play-off places
Goals from Uche Ikpeazu and Greg Taylor helped Cambridge United move into the Sky Bet League Two play-off places after a 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra.
Mark Roberts and Conor Newton both tested Crewe keeper Ben Garratt in the first half, but he was equal to the efforts as the score remained goalless at half time.
But six minutes into the second half, Newton put through Ikpeazu to finish past Garratt.
The lead was doubled nine minutes later when Taylor unleashed a thunderous effort from 25 yards out, which went in off the underside of the bar.
Crewe pulled a goal back in the 68th minute as Jamie Jones fired home from the edge of the box.
United looked the more likely to extend the lead, but they were unable to add to their advantage as the three points took them up to seventh in the table.
