Cambridge United Sport in the Community Awards put athletics in the spotlight
Michaela Joysey and Victoria Knight are headline winners of the month
Athletics comes under the microscope as the feature sport in this month’s Cambridge United Sport in the Community Awards.
And the two winners that have run away with the main prizes perfectly sum up commitment to their sport – although in very different ways.
In the awards that see United and the Cambridge Independent partnering, Michaela Joysey and Victoria Knight epitomise the benefits of sport participation and show the levels that can be achieved by hard work and focus.
Cambridge United Community Trust manager Ben Szreter said: “The stories of both Michaela and “Victoria are great examples of the impact sport, and in their cases athletics, can have on peoples’ lives. For Victoria to have left it until a bit later in life to take up running seriously and reach such heights is a magnificent achievement.
“While Michaela’s efforts open up access to athletics for so many people.”
