Cambridge United suffer sucker punch in defeat at Oxford United in League One
Tyler Goodrham left it late to send Cambridge United home empty handed after a 1-0 defeat at Oxford United in Sky Bet League One.
He scored with virtually the last kick of the game to harshly deny the U's anything from the game.
They had created the majority of the chances in the first half.
In the fourth minute, Sam Smith attempted a 30-yard lob which went just wide, and Harvey Knibbs side-footed Shilow Tracey's pass wide in the 17th minute.
Harrison Dunk tried his luck from distance in the 23rd minute, but it went just over the bar.
United's defensive nous was preventing Oxford creating any clear-cut chances, and the only thing they had to write home about in the first half was a penalty appeal for a foul by Lloyd Jones on Marcus Browne, but it was waved away by the referee.
Oxford grew into the game as the second half wore on, and United keeper Dimi Mitov had to be alert to tip behind an effort from Matty Taylor.
Smith got in behind the defence in the 78th minute, but from a difficult angle, hit a shot narrowly wide.
Mitov then thwarted headers from centre-half Elliott Moore and Taylor, but Goodrham had the final say.
In stoppage time, he cut in from the left and curled a shot into the far post to seal Oxford's win.
