Cambs & Hunts juniors put down credentials for the future
Young players make debut in county matchdays
Building for the future was the theme for Cambs & Hunts Ladies County Golf Association at the Junior County Match Days at Colne Valley Golf Club.
They had five of the eight players making their debuts, and only one single figure handicap player, but posted some strong performances.
In the first match against Essex, Gog Magog’s Lucy Pepper and Anna Guest, and Barkway Park’s Olivia Dyson made their debuts, and four of the matches went to either the 16th or 17th holes, although Cambs & Hunts eventually lost 6-0.
Against Suffolk, Ely City’s Ella Mason and Pepper lost 2&1, but Gog Magog’s Morgan Tritton won two up and Saffron Walden’s debutant Alex Sparrow triumphed 5&4. Girton’s Jessica Hollingsworth made her debut.
Cambs & Hunts were in good form against Bedfordshire, winning 4½-1½.
Tritton won 2&1, captain Chloe Neal won 8&6, Anna Guest triumphed 2&1, Olivia Dyson was victorious 7&5 and Pepper halved her match.
In the match against Norfolk, Cambs & Hunts’ lone success was a half for Sparrow.
There were good performances from Pepper, Dyson, Neal and Hollingsworth against Hertfordshire, but they lost 6-0.
Essex won the overall competition with five points, with Cambs & Hunts fifth with one point.
