City of Cambridge make a splash at Swim England East Regional Championships




City of Cambridge Swimming Club produced an impressive performance across the Swim England East Regional Championships.

They were seventh in the combined medal table over the three weekends, with 49 medals.

Oskar Farkas and Matilda Ransome finish third overall in their respective age groups, the 14-year-old boys and 13-year-old girls.

Royston and Bottisham Swimming Clubs have links to City of Cambridge, and Royston finished 28th overall.

Their combined medal tally with City of Cambridge placed the duo fifth overall with 56 medals, and that broke down as 13 golds, 19 silver and 24 bronze. They also had 132 finalists and 89 qualifiers at the East Region championships.

Christopher Williams, Seb Van Der Meer, Matthew Titman, Dominic Holloway, Myles Turner, Lewis Waters, Georgia Maggs, Matilda Ransome, Gracie Kay, Kathryn Gill and Agatha Malikova have qualified for the British Championships.

A number of relay teams have also qualified and they include the men’s 17+ 4x100m free A and B, 4x200m freestyle A and 4x100m medley A teams, the women’s 17+ 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle teams and the girls’ 14 to 16 years 4x200m freestyle team.

Heading to the Home Nations Championships are Farkas, Christopher Howe, Manfred Battle, Oliver Cashin, Jake Moxham, Hugo Bellamy, Theo Cannon, Henry Choong, Turner, Macy Dexter, Ransome, Daisy Moxham, Sofia Pappas-Katsiafas Pombo, Imogen Bloomfield, Katie Hammond, Kay, Gill, Malikova, Lauren Watt, Max Withers, Indy Scott, Zara Keegan and Lauren Hammond.

City of Cambridge head coach James Freezer said: “Huge congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches involved at COCSC, Royston and Bottisham for an amazing job. Great effort and great team work.”
