Chesterton Eagles give thanks to departing duo during club’s 25th anniversary celebrations
Chesterton Eagles FC had two causes for celebration at the weekend.
Established in 1998, Saturday’s end-of-season event at the Chesterton Recreation Ground provided members with the opportunity to mark the club’s 25-year anniversary.
And it also proved to be the ideal setting to show appreciation to Tim and Ania Anderson, who have stepped down from their respective posts of chairman and club development officer after 15 years of service.
The Andersons, whose children have outgrown youth football, have played key roles in the recent growth of the Eagles.
The club is now regarded as one of the biggest in the city of Cambridge with more than 35 teams across mini-soccer, colts and girls leagues providing grassroots football to more than 450 players.
Among the club’s alumni is Cambridge-born Lucy Parker, who is currently on the books of Women’s Super League side Aston Villa and has previously been called up to the senior England squad.
For next season, which is due to start in September, the club is looking for a new chairman, safeguarding lead and a communications lead.
Anyone interested in those roles can contact secretary.chestertoneagles@gmail.com for more information.
