Cambridge University RUFC appoint Will Cotterill to coach women’s team

Cambridge University RUFC have confirmed that Will Cotterill has been appointed the new coach of its women’s team.

Cotterill, who has been the director of rugby at Shelford Rugby Club since 2020, will lead the squad into the 2023/24 campaign as they bid to wrestle back Varsity Match supremacy from their Oxford counterparts.

Cambridge had not lost to their old rivals since 2016 heading into this year’s Twickenham Stadium showpiece, where they suffered a 31-12 defeat.

Cotterill wrote on Twitter: “Honoured to be given the opportunity to become the Women’s Head Coach.”

Last month it was revealed that Pembroke College’s Emilia Bushrod had been re-elected as captain of the women’s team for the forthcoming season.

She is the third woman to have to have held the position for two terms.
