Cambridge Dive Team dominate medals at Cambridgeshire County Diving Championships
The Cambridge Dive Team were in dominant form at the recent County Diving Championships.
Competing in individual events across the 1m and 3m springboards and the 5m platform, members of the Cambridge squad scooped every title on offer at Parkside Pools.
In the Junior Girls’ (Under-14) competition, each board was won by a different diver.
Hallie Cave edged out Florence Tibbatts and Sophia Howard on the 1m, while the latter turned the tables to come out on top in the 3m event.
In the platform, Tibbatts produced five high-quality dives to finish ahead of Karina Baxendale, who took silver in what is her debut season at the level.
However, the Junior Boys’ section was less contentious as Ryan Church collected a trio of gold medals. His stand-out performance came in the 5m platform courtesy of an overall score of 521.65, which broke the previous record set by Rufus Bord in 2022.
Daisy Halls was pressed all the way in all three Senior Women’s events by Tobi Fayomi and Yuzu Baxendale, but she did not buckle under the pressure to clinch a trio of gold medals. As well as taking trophies, Halls also set new records in each section.
And Finn McFarlane followed suit in the Senior Men’s events with three record-breaking triumphs.
