Double defeat for Cambridgeshire in Unicorns Trophy

County beaten by Lincolnshire and Norfolk

Cambridgeshire suffered a double defeat in the Unicorns Trophy over the Bank Holiday weekend.

In the first match in Group 3 they faced Lincolnshire, but found opener Jonathan Tattersall in top form.

He made 127 and opening partner Louis Kimber hit 90 as Lincolnshire reached 348 for 4.

It meant that for the second week in a row in the competition, Cambs were chasing the same score.

However, they were unable to repeat the heroics from the victory over Northumberland.

They showed some determination with their batting as opener Nesan Jayeratnam made 43.

There was also a half-century for James Williams, and an entertaining cameo last-wicket partnership of 39 between Sam Rippington (22 not out) and Josh Arksey (12).

But in the end, Cambs were dismissed for 243 to give Lincolnshire 105-run win.

The second match saw them face Norfolk on Monday, when Lewis Bruce scored an unbeaten 40 as Cambs were dismissed for 170.

But Lewis Denmark (52) and Rob Taylor (51 not out) carried Norfolk to 174 for 4 and a six-wicket win.
