Foxton bounce back from league defeat to progress in The Cricketer National Village Cup
Steven Atherton was the star man for Foxton as they secured 110-run win over Worlington in The Cricketer National Village Cup.
Having won the toss, Foxton elected to bat and Cei Sanderson struck 49 off 42 balls and Alex Hooley made 40 as Foxton were bowled out for 217.
The bowlers then got to work, and Atherton claimed four for 14 and Jeffery Douglas claimed three for 27 as Worlington were dismissed for 107.
Foxton's cup win followed a four-wicket defeat to Cambridge II in the Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division One, with Deepak Raj and Jake Lawrence combining to steer the hosts to victory.
Adam Webster struck 49 for Foxton and David Fagan made 36, but they were bowled out for 163.
Raj was the leading wicket-taker, snaring four for 26, while Asama Weerasekara and Hamza Rashid took two wickets apiece.
Cambridge lost four wickets relatively cheaply, but Lawrence came in at No 5 to stabilise the innings with 48, and then Sam Serby (32) and John Turner (27) were unbeaten to see their side over the line on 164 for 6.
Callum Guest and Alex Stafford had influential roles as Sawston & Babraham pulled clear at the top of the Division One table with a 128-run win over nearest rivals Eaton Socon.
Going in at No 3, Guest made 76 in a 200-run partnership with Stafford, who hit 12 fours and four sixes in a 90-ball 104. It helped Sawston & Babraham to 297 for 9, despite Jonathon Carpenter’s five for 34.
Tim Moses took two of Eaton Socon’s top three in a haul of three for 15, which was completed by the removal of last man Adam Newman for 1.
Guest took three of the last four wickets to fall in his three for 24, as Eaton Socon were bowled out for 169.
Josh Brown and Chetan Chauhan blitzed Ramsey to help Histon to a nine-wicket win.
Only Mark Saunders (14) and Ben Saunders (13) offered any sort of resistance as Ramsey were bowled out for 65, with Brown taking five for 30 and Chauhan claiming four for 20.
Amit Gupta (21), James Mynott (21 not out) and Brown (26 not out) saw Histon home with ease, with 71 for the loss of one wicket.
Will Phelps was the star man for Cambridge St Giles as they beat Ufford Park by three wickets in Division Two.
He took four for 11 as Ufford Park were bowled out for 151, with Ben Stone and Martin Heginbotham also taking two wickets apiece.
It was a nervous reply for St Giles but, after Heginbotham’s 35, not out scores of 28 from Craig Driver and 20 from Stone saw them reach 155 for 7.
Kishon Williams plundered a century to give Foxton II a three-wicket win over Burwell & Exning II in Division Three.
Williams smashed an unbeaten 101 off 81 balls, including 11 fours and five sixes, while Paul Dean hit 74 as Foxton amassed 329 for 7.
Matthew Lister was the pick of the Burwell & Exning bowlers with three for 80.
Oakley Colby (19) and Ed Manning (17) were the only Burwell players to make double figures as they were bowled out for 99.
Matt Daniels snared four for 28.
Andrew Gale led the way for Old Leysians as they secured a five-wicket triumph over Southill Park.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, with Jason George leading the scoring with 47. However, he was one of the victims of Gale, who went through the middle order to finish with four for 21 as Southill were bowled out for 144.
Chris Tapping plundered 43 and Gale struck an unbeaten 40 as Old Leysians won with 145 for 5.
