Cambridge Dive Team make a splash in season opener

Frankie Webb earned two medals as Cambridge Dive Team started their competitive season at the Armada Cup Championships in Plymouth.

In the four-day event, Webb and Luton’s Amy Rollinson won the gold medal in the girls’ under-13 1m synchro competition. Cambridge’s Catherine Lopez and Isabella Given were sixth, while in the boys’ event, Albie Vaughan and Kyron Roberts were fifth.

Webb was in equally good form in the 12 to 13 year 1m springboard, qualifying from the preliminary rounds in third place before stepping up to take silver in the final.

Cambridge Dive Team’s Elora Graham was sixth in the final of the girls’ 14 to 15 year three-metre event.

And team-mate Olivia Blower achieved a personal best as she finished fourth in the women’s platform event.

Zara Wray, Malaika Graham, Macy Dexter and Dominic Jaunzens were also in action for Cambridge at the Armada Cup.

Cambridge Dive Team head coach Aaron Paul said: “By the end of the weekend we’d hit double figures in personal bests, as well as having two new divers compete with the national age group team, which as a coach is exactly where I want to be at these early events in the year.

“We’ve come away from the event feeling really positive about the next few and are now training with a great feeling of shared excitement for what comes next in the year.”
