U's midfielder signs extended deal after catching the eye
George Maris has signed a new two-year deal at Cambridge United.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined in the summer from Barnsley on an initial one-year deal, and has gone on to make 23 appearances, scoring three goals in the process.
And his performances have caught the eye for their creativity and energetic nature.
Maris has penned a new deal until the end of the 2018/19 season.
Ben Strang, Cambridge United’s head of football operations, said: “George has shown moments of real quality this season and deserves a longer contract with the club.
“He has played over 20 games as a young player aiming to establish himself in the first team.
“He possesses good technical ability and the capability to play across a variety of attacking positions.
“If he can produce and affect games consistently, we firmly believe that George can be an excellent asset for Cambridge United Football Club.”
