Cambridge United's pre-season friendly with QPR will be a testimonial match for the long-serving Harrison Dunk.

The left-sided player marked his 10th year with the U's last season, and the club announced plans for a fixture to recognise the achievement when fans would be able to attend again.

With Covid restrictions easing, that game will be on Tuesday, July 27 (kick off 7.45pm) against the Hoops, who Dunk has supported since childhood.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to this amazing club for the opportunity to have a testimonial later this month," said Dunk, who is entering his 11th season at the Abbey, having made 384 appearances for the U's.

“It has been an honour to play for Cambridge over the past 10 years and I want to thank everyone who has contributed and been a part of that special journey.

“We have created some amazing memories and hopefully there are plenty more to come! There are so many people to thank, but I must say a big thank you to every single fan who has supported me and the club over those years. There have been plenty of highs and lows but you have stuck with us throughout. You have been sorely missed over the last year and so we can’t wait to welcome you back.

“I would also like to say that as a lifelong QPR fan, the chance to play them is a dream come true for both myself and my family and so I want to thank both clubs for arranging this game.

“I hope to see as many of you as possible to celebrate the amazing progress that we as a club have achieved over those 10 seasons.”

Seated tickets for the match cost £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and £1 for juniors, while terrace tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for juniors.

All proceeds after costs will go to Dunk, who is the club's longest-serving player.

They can be purchased by visiting CUFCDirect.com, by calling 01223 566500 or by purchasing in-person on the day of the game.
