Harry Darling's double gives Cambridge United progress in FA Youth Cup

U's set up Brighton & Hove Albion tie

Harry Daling was the hero for Cambridge United under-18s as they progressed to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.

The youngsters were looking to emulate the efforts of the senior team at the Cambs Glass Stadium, and they did not disappoint.

Bournemouth enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half, and took the lead in the 32nd minute.

The visitors’ full-back Charlie Seaman broke the deadlock, side-footing into the bottom left corner of Finley Iron’s goal from 18 yards.

There was a better intensity for United after the break though.

Darling brought the scores level with a close-range header after 63 minutes, and that gave the hosts increased momentum.

After taking control of the game, United grabbed what turned out to be the winner seven minutes from time, with Darling heading home Josh Emmins’ corner.

But United’s fourth-round tie at Brighton & Hove Albion was only confirmed thanks to a fine save from Iron in injury time.

The date for the U’s last-32 clash at the Seagulls is still to be confirmed.
