Cambridge suffer 90-point margin of defeat away at Ealing Trailfinders in RFU Championship
Cambridge suffered a 95-5 thrashing at the hands of Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday.
Visiting Cambridge were overawed by their hosts, who ran in 15 tries as they returned to the top of the RFU Championship standings.
Meanwhile, Elias Caven scored a late consolation try for second-from-bottom Cambridge.
“I’ve got to start by saying how powerful Ealing were. We played them three times last season and they’ve added some different dimensions to how they play – some of their attacking play was outstanding,” Cambridge head coach Richie Williams told the Richie & Jacko Podcast.
“But for us it’s a similar story. We gave away possession too easily at times and whenever you’re on the receiving end of a 90-point loss, that’s a real hard one to take.”
Cambridge will sign off for the year on Saturday (21 December) when they play host to ninth-placed Ampthill.
