Melbourn Squash Club’s Kate Bradshaw wins Women’s Over-35s England Masters Tour East Regional competition

Melbourn Squash Club’s Kate Bradshaw won the fifth Masters title of her career earlier this month.

Bradshaw went into the Women’s Over-35s England Masters Tour East Regional competition as the top seed.

And she showed her quality from the first encounter with a pair of straightforward wins over Jennifer Wright (Essex) and Francesca Whyte (Hampshire) to advance to face Devon’s Gemma Barber in the final.

This produced the Melbourn player’s third straight-games win of the weekend as she found a perfect length with lifted balls to keep Barber pinned deep to cruise through 11-5, 11-6, 11-4.

The victory made it a quintet of Masters victories for Bradshaw and it also secured back-to-back crowns after she also claimed the West Regional crown on the Tour’s previous stop in Cheltenham in November of this year.

Elsewhere, Melbourn players also claimed two first place titles at the recent Cambridgeshire County Championships.

Vinod Duraikan retained his Men’s Over-55 crown after a pair of 3-0 wins was followed by a 3-1 victory in the final, while Jan Brynjolffssen got his hands on the Grade B Plate.
