Ken Parsons seals sudden death play-off glory for Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union County Seniors’ Championship crown

Ken Parsons savoured victory in the Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union County Seniors’ Championships at Ely City Golf Club on Monday.

The Links Golf Club member took the win after a sudden death play-off against St Ives’ Keith Moore.

Parsons had completed the one-round competition in one-over-par 73, after a one-over-par front nine, with birdies on the fourth and eighth, and an even par inward nine, with birdies on the 12th and 16th. He also had five bogeys.

Moore had an eventful round, with an eagle two on the first, followed by a double six on the fifth to go out in one under par but he returned in two over par. He had birdies on the fourth and ninth, and three bogeys.

It took the match to the play-off, which was won by Parsons on the second extra hole, the 11th.
