Martin Davies leaves Swansea City to become Cambridge United goalkeeping coach
Martin Davies is returning to Cambridge United as goalkeeper coach.
Davies is a familiar figure at the U's having been a player with them for a season during the 1990s, and then working his way up through the club in the coaching ranks between 2009 and 2017.
He started out working in the youth development scheme before joining the academy and then the first team as head of goalkeeping.
Davies left United in 2017 to become the head of academy goalkeeping at Swansea City, but will now be back with the U's after the departure of Mark Bunn.
"Martin rejoins us after almost five years away and is tasked with continuing the good work that Mark Bunn has carried out with the goalkeepers," said United head coach Mark Bonner.
"He becomes a key member of the coaching team to assist not only the goalkeepers, but the whole squad in order to help best prepare the team for the challenges we face this season and beyond.
"On top of that, his diligent approach and coaching experience will allow the goalkeepers to continue developing and improving.
Martin will adjust to life at Cambridge quickly and has the character to help us continue building the culture we want to be deeply embedded in the club. He returns, better and more experienced having worked with some excellent mentors and gained a host of positive learning experiences whilst he's been away."
