Michael Hausler has been on top of the world after his recent trip to Gainsville, Florida.
The Cambridge & Coleridge Athletic Club member made the journey to the World Indoor Masters Championships as one of the favourites to triumph in the M65 shot put.
And he lived up to that billing by returning home with a gold medal.
Hausler produced his best performance in round number five of six, recording a distance of 13.56m.
He then faced a nervous wait as the final batch of throws took place, but he eventually triumphed by a margin of 31cm ahead of Lithuania’s Saulius Svilainis in the silver medal position.
The podium was completed by the USA’s Robert Sommer, who took bronze with a distance of 13.18m.
