Mike Gillick's try earns Shelford a bonus-point win over Chingford

Shelford earned a four-try 27-15 win over Chingford in London League 1N.

There was only a minute on the clock when Lewis Cracknell touched down the opening try, which he also converted.

Cracknell’s penalty added to their lead, and then Alex Long touched down to make it 15-0 at half time.

Chingford reduced the arrears with a penalty as Shelford were made to work hard in defence.

The visitors further cut the deficit with a converted score, but Shelford had some breathing space with a try from Warrick Anderson.

Mike Gillick got Shelford’s bonus-point winning fourth try, which was converted by Cracknell, to make it 27-10. But Chingford got an unconverted consolation in the 92nd minute as it finished 27-15 to the hosts.

Shelford are on their travels this Saturday (October 5) away to Harpenden, who have only won one of their four matches so far this season.
