Mixed fortunes for Foxton in Cambs & Hunts Premier League and National Village Cup

Plaudits were shared around as Foxton secured a three-wicket win over Thriplow in Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division One.

Fourteen-year-old Noah Thain made 71 and Peter Richer hit 45 as Thriplow were bowled out for 200.

Rakshith Rao was the pick of the Foxton bowlers, taking five of the top seven batsman to return figures of five for 33.

In reply, Harry Hopwood hit 57, Adam Webster made 55 and Craig Park smashed 47 not out as Foxton reached 203 for 7.

Tristan Tusa claimed four for 53 and Jack Upton claimed three for 43.

But Foxton’s run in the Cricketer National Village Cup has come to an end after a quarter-final defeat to Reed last Sunday.

They were dismissed for 206, and Reed replied with 210 for 2.

Back in Division One, Cambridge II suffered a four-wicket defeat to second-placed Eaton Socon.

Miles Aubrey made an unbeaten 72 as Cambridge reached 200 for 8.

In Eaton Socon’s reply, Hamza Rashid claimed three for 44 but Gareth Macaskill’s 65 was crucial in guiding them to 201 for 6 to seal victory.
