Cambridge United boss Garry Monk reveals talks with a ‘couple’ of transfer targets
Cambridge United head coach Garry Monk has revealed that ‘good conversations’ have been had with a ‘couple’ of transfer targets.
Despite bringing in 11 players so far this summer, Monk is still keen to make further additions to his squad before the deadline passes next Friday – particularly in the attacking third of the pitch.
And while no deals are currently close to being successfully concluded, Monk is hopeful that recent talks will have paid off.
Speaking after today’s 4-4 draw at home with Blackpool, Monk said: “We spoke to a couple (of players) yesterday and tried to put our best view across to them to see if they want to come. We should find out in the next day or two if it’s going to be a possibility.
“As I’ve said before, there’s a lot of moving parts. We’ve gone after a number of people we actually want and unfortunately missed out on some and got some in.
“There’s nothing imminent but there’s some good conversations going on.”
