Cambridge District Schools Championship Basketball Finals glory for Parkside Community College
Parkside Community College have been celebrating success on the basketball court.
Following victories over Coleridge and NCA earlier in the competition, Parkside’s Under-16s Boys’ team found themselves in the Cambridge District Schools Championship Basketball Finals at Long Road Sixth Form College, where they were paired with St Bede’s in the semi-finals.
Parkside had a five-point deficit at half-time and it was not until 50 seconds before the final whistle that they decisively took the lead for the first time via Michael Ng’s mid-range shot to seal a 14-13 victory.
However, the final against The Perse School was more of a straightforward affair for Parkside’s team of six players, who made their superior possession and tight defence count to triumph 31-20.
Meanwhile, the third/fourth place play-off encounter went the way of St Bede’s as they defeated Impington 17-12.
