Ravi Mahendra stars with the ball as Foxton defeat Stamford Town
Ravi Mahendra tore through the Stamford Town middle order to help give Foxton a 122-run win over Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division One.
Alex Hooley won the toss for Foxton and elected to bat first, and their innings was built on solidity with the top five all making starts.
Hooley (41) and Tade Carmichael (40) were able to convert to the biggest scores as Foxton ended up being bowled out for 223.
Ben Peck took four for 56.
Having made a promising start in reply, Stamford went from 33 for 0 to 37 for 4, Rakshith Rao got one wicket and Steven Smith got three, finishing with figures of three for 17.
Mahendra then took over, taking four for 29 as Stamford were reduced to 90 for 8, and they were all out for 101.
Foxton were unable to make it a winning double as they lost by five wickets to March Town on bank holiday Monday.
Carmichael hit 53 and Naresh Rasakulasuriar thrashed 32 but Foxton were all out for 167.
Saranga Rajaguru got five for 15 off 10 overs for March, who then reached their target off 42.2 overs.
Histon lost their unbeaten start to the season with a five-wicket defeat at Eaton Socon last Saturday.

Histon were flailing at 58 for 6, and it was only Kieren Mackenzie’s 45 that gave them some respectability to the score as they were all out for 117.

They won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bowled out for 78, as Zaheer Hussain top-scored with 29 off 34 balls.
Ruwan Pitigala’s unbeaten 24 helped March to 79 for 5, despite Vansh Bajaj’s three for 22.
Cambridge II suffered a 46-run defeat to Ramsey last Saturday.
Batting first, Ramsey posted 194 for 7 and were then able to bowl Cambridge out for 148.
Ben Saunders led the way with the bat for Ramsey with 48 as they amassed 194 for 8.
Theodore Aubrey scooped three for 15 off eight overs and Hamza Rashid snared three for 24.
Navid Ahmed was Cambridge’s top scorer with 27 as they were bowled out for 148.
Elliot Cafferkey was the leading wicket taker with three for 19.
