Shelford keep the wins ticking over with success against Belsize Park
Shelford shared the tries in a 45-12 demolition of Belsize Park in London League 1N.
The first chance that the visitors had to get the ball in hand was in the 13th minute, and it ended with Louie Tang sprinting clear to touch down. Lewis Cracknell added the conversion to make it 7-0.
Belsize replied five minutes later with an unconverted try from a line-out.
Straight from the restart, Shelford kept the ball alive to move possession to Jack Biard to dance through the defence, and Cracknell’s extras made it 14-5.
The hosts fought back again, and a converted try saw them narrow the deficit to two points.
However, a quick tap penalty from Charlie Baker allowed Dan Barber to crash through at speed, and that made it 19-12 at half time.
Shelford got their bonus-point winning fourth try in the 52nd minute through Ben Bates out wide.
They extended their lead to 31-12 minutes later as Baker took an offload from Bates to touch down.
There was a late two-try salvo from Shelford to finish off the game.
Charlie Buchanan forced his way over to finish some good work from the forwards, and then Harry Rogerson made the break to put in Mike Gillick to touch down. Cracknell kicked both conversions to finish with 10 points overall.
