Spring in the step of Neil Hughes and Chris Brown at CAGU seniors' event
Success for duo at the Links, Newmarket
Neil Hughes and Chris Brown claimed glory in the Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union seniors’ spring meeting at the Links Golf Club, Newmarket.
Gog Magog’s Hughes was in good form as he shot gross 75, which included three birdies and going round the last nine holes in level-par 35.
Clubmate Kevin Diss was second after returning a three-over-par 76, while Ely City’s Bob Setchell was third with 77.
In the handicap section, Newmarket’s Brown was first with 36 points.
He went out in six over par, but returned on the inward nine with a one-under-par 34 shots, but needed countback to see off the challenge of Brampton Park’s Ian Robinson.
John Durman was thanked for providing the trophies and Hamish Fleming for making the day possible.
