Cambridge City concede stoppage time equaliser in 2-2 Isthmian League North Division draw with Brightlingsea Regent
Cambridge City were left frustrated in stoppage time during Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Brightlingsea Regent.
The Lilywhites twice took the lead against their play-off hunting visitors, but they were pegged back on both occasion as the spoils were shared.
It proved to be an eventful afternoon for Jahkyah Ebanks-Blake, who opened the scoring for City with his first goal in senior football since joining on loan from Cambridge United.
However, later in the contest the young forward suffered a dislocated elbow that will rule him out the remainder of the season.
Ebanks-Blake’s opener was cancelled out by Fin Adams’ 36th-minute equaliser, but the home side restored their lead with 20 minute minutes remaining through Jayden Gipson.
And that appeared to be the winning moment until deep into time added on when Louie Kudiabor got the better of City goalkeeper James Philp from the penalty spot.
It is now three games without a victory for Jamie Cureton’s men, who sit 12th in the Isthmian League North Division standings ahead of their trip to Walthamstow on Saturday (19 April).
And that is followed on Monday (21 April) by the visit of relegated Sporting Bengal United.
