Histon appoint Chris Nunn to take over as manager following his departure from AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Histon have appointed Chris Nunn as their new manager.
The Stutes have been without a boss since late last month when the decision was taken to part company with the long-serving Lance Key following a disappointing start to the 2023/24 campaign.
A number of individuals are thought to have expressed an interest in the job – and it is Nunn that has been selected as the man to take the club forward.
Nunn only became available earlier this week when it was announced that he had left higher-league AFC Rushden & Diamonds by mutual consent. His final game in charge of Diamonds proved to be Sunday’s 1-0 defeat away at Histon’s former tenants Cambridge City.
He arrives at Bridge Road with a wealth of experience and plenty of achievements on his CV, including leading Newmarket Town on a club-record run to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase, as well as guiding Biggleswade Town to promotion to Step 3 and the first round proper of the FA Cup.
Chairman John Hall said of Nunn’s appointment: “The board are delighted to have secured the services of Chris Nunn as first team manager. His wealth of experience and achievements are hard to match and he is the ideal appointment to take this club up the leagues. The board will do everything in their power to make that a reality and we really look forward to working with him.”
“I must take this opportunity to thank Lance, Mark and Simon for their excellent commitment over the past seven years and also to Matt Payne, Lee Keen and Craig Galbraith for stepping in so valiantly whilst we found a permanent replacement.”
Nunn will take charge of Histon for the first time tomorrow when they travel to Daventry Town in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South.
